I love fashion week in the fall!  The shows, the clothes, the parties.  What I don’t love is how exhausted I feel, and LOOK, at the end of it all.  However, this year it’s a different story.  I’ve come across a product line that actually lives up to it’s name.

I'm Rob-sessed.  But it's not just him, it's the entire "Twilight" machine; the books, the movies, the MAKEUP!

Yup, you heard it right here!  My two greatest loves are about to combine. "Twilight" is entering the makeup realm.  DuWop cosmetics, the brand used on the "New Moon" set, is launching its own "Twilight" line (yay!). 

So attention all you "Twilight" fans, the first item to come out of the coffin is here - a limited-edition Lip Venom V.  According to Du Wop, it's not the "typical Lip Venom".  Instead it's a shimmering crimson lip stain suspended in a venom-laced liquid lip conditioner.  I have yet to try it myself, but I imagine it's got a pretty potent bite! 

But if you want this you're gonna have to wait!  The preview is already on BACKORDER.  That really "bites" doesn't it?

Fear not my little vamp-loving ladies, because I've got a homemade lip plumping recipe for you, that is guaranteed to get you more Pattinson approved pucker-time!

MAKE YOUR OWN LIP PLUMPER:

All you'll need are the following household items:

• Petroleum jelly
• Cinnamon Leaf essential oil
• Peppermint, Spearmint, or Menthol essential oil
• Cayenne powder
• Small jar, pill box, or any other tight storage for your lip balm.

Step 1

Fill a small container, or old lipgloss tin, with a decent amount of petroleum jelly. Depending on the size of your container and the amount of lip balm you wish to make, you can add as much or as little as you like.

Step 2

Place one or two drops of Cinnamon leaf oil in the middle of the petroleum jelly. Follow that with two drops of your peppermint, spearmint, and menthol oils. I strongly suggest that you test it on your lips before proceeding.

For those who want a fuller lip (think post-major-make-out-sesh with Rob) add a a few more drops of the cinnamon oil. If it is already too strong for you, add a drop of your mint oil and/or another tablespoon of petroleum jelly to even it out. Follow by adding a sprinkle of cayenne pepper for added kick.

This concoction should definitely do the trick.  Like any great homemade product, use it cautiously and sparingly.  All lip plumpers have a tendency to dry out your lips, so alternate using this with a regular moisturizing gloss.

Will Ferrell has gone back to his college roots to "hit the bottle" once again.  No, his "Frank the Tank" beer guzzling alter ego is not streaking through a quad near you.  Instead, he's gone from the big screen to SUN screen, donating his mug to charity. Three new Ferrell "flavors of SPF", each with a different design, will raise money for the scholarship fund, "Cancer for College", which pays for everything from text books to four-year scholarships for kids who have battled cancer.  Since its inception, Cancer For College has granted over $500K in scholarships to more than 450 cancer survivors.  In less than two months, they've sold over over 10,000 bottles ... so you might want to hop on the Will wagon, because this stuff is going fast!   My favorite is the golf-game enhancing "Sun Stroke" although I imagine the "Forbidden Fruit" will get laughs on beaches coast to coast.

July 4^th is right around the corner and I'm pretty sure I'll be stuck in the city.  Last summer, I had the great fortune to have a friend with a house on the east end of Long Island.  I lovingly referred to my 7-bedroom second home as, "the Mansh'y in the Hampty's."  Sigh.  Those were the good old days.

This summer, I'd need to dip into a More-01k to be able to afford going anywhere east of Broadway.  So, I've downsized my summer vacation to a beach chair, a good book, and spray bottle on my fire escape.  Double sigh. 

But there is a silver lining on this stormy summer cloud. It's no secret ... I have a LOT of baggage! (Sadly it's NOT Loius Vuitton.)  And it doesn't seem to matter where I am either; if I'm standing on the security line at the airport or skipping down the sidewalk to work (yeah right), my oversized purse is always overstuffed.  What can I say? I was really excited years ago when my friend and I decided to do our first fake tan.  We went for a nice lunch first and had a couple of glasses of wine, which later proved to be an error in judgment.  After lunch, we went to the spray place, listened carefully to the directions - arms in the air, turn, eyes closed - and then took it all off and jumped in our respective booths.  One problem ... when I emerged all a-glow, I realized I hadn't taken a giant square pendant necklace off before I hopped in so I had a giant square white mark on my chest. To make matters worse, we had no idea you couldn't shower or get wet afterwards and went for our scheduled pedicures immediately following. Um - yeah - my legs were white from the knee down, a clean line separating the tan from the pasty part.

Tan and learn.

Let me set the scene ... it's 3 o'clock on a beautiful, sunny day. You're at your desk and suddenly "bing", an email pops up. OMG! It's Mr. "I wish we could be more than friends" and he wants to meet YOU after work for drinks! Wahoo! You anxiously wait the appropriate "I'm not desperate" five minutes and as you begin to type your response you catch sight of your less-than-kept hands. Holy $%^&! You haven't had a manicure in weeks and it shows. There's certainly not enough time to go to the salon — SO NOW WHAT? 

We've all been there ladies (and well kept gentlemen). But, in an un-polished pinch, you can get salon-style nails in less than a minute (well ... def not more than five). All you need is a 4-in-1 nail buffer and some cuticle cream. Just stash' em in your desk for those emergencies. And the best part is, they cost less than a quickie trip to the salon. 

When you get the invite for some after-work fun (which seems to happen EVERY night in the summertime), simply file your nails into your desired shape. This works especially well if you keep your nails short. Then follow the steps on the buffing block, using all four sides. For a "just polished" finish, be sure to use the rubber side last. Your nails will look as though you've applied a clear top coat. 

After you've shaped and buffed, rub in some cuticle cream  I love this cuticle pen from Sephora because it's easy to use, easy to stash in your desk or purse, and there's absolutely NO MESS.

Of course, if you don't want to worry about your polish chipping, or wait around for them to dry, this trick will get you out the door pretty and (seemingly) polished.

For the past few days I've been really tan-conscious. Partly because like every hot blooded woman I know, I'm obsessed with the Cullen clan from the "Twilight" series. In case you live under a rock, they are vampires who make pale skin look lovely. The other reason I feel a little less than tan-tastic is, since I've returned from my weekend jaunt to Florida, so many people see me and say "Wow, you're so tan!". Under normal circumstances that comment should be followed with a clearly jealous look. But for me, it's followed by a sort of confused, pitying look That's not a good sign. If only I'd have avoided the sun altogether and gone the safe route.
