American Idol’s Style Statement

Hey, fashionistas AND Idol fans!
Did you watch??? I'm sure you watched. And if you didn't watch you certainly have heard the buzz about the big Idol finale! There was tons of excitement of course, lots of great music, but being the Style Guide, I of course was most interested in what they wore!
Certainly Adam and Kris were the stars of this season's Idol, and their style statements were the ones to watch! Throughout the season, the finalists' fashion sense was as different as their music making. Over the past few months, Chris, with his boy-next-door good looks, pop rock John Mayer-ish musicality, and laid-back way about him, dressed the part in graphic tees, loose jeans and not-so-fitted vests. The other night, he took the prize as #1 vocalist in a basic white v-neck tee, dark denim and leather bomber. Talk about all American (a HUGE style guy trend).
Naturally, Adam Lambert couldn't be farther on the style spectrum. Throughout the season he literally rocked his flat-ironed hair, black nail polish, shiny suits, and tight leather pants. Last night he performed in a Freddy Mercury Goth-like trench, and took second place in an over-the-top fitted sparkly suit. Bravo!
For obvious reasons, I can't leave out the Idol judges who won high style marks last night! Randy looked down-right dapper in a bow tie, Paula glammed it up in nude sequence and Kara looked stunning in a black, strapless gown. The only faux pas was the fashion face-off with Idol cast-off, "Bikini Girl" and Kara's uncomfortable strip tease. Oh, and Simon's propensity for buttoning up less and less throughout the season is distracting and slightly disturbing!
So now that the voting is over, the Idol is crowned, and the style statements have been made, whose do you prefer? Check out our slideshow on how to get the Idol look. Are you a Chris or an Adam!
