When Irish Eyes are Smiling

Festive .. but REALLY?!?!
This morning on my way to work I encountered a sea of green hats, shirts, and even hair extensions (yikes)! I know that everyone's Irish on St. Patty's Day, but let's be honest ... not everyone can pull off a green shamrock sweater, nor should they even try! I am all for showing your colorful support on any holiday, but there are ways to show your spirit and add "green" to your routine this St. Patty's Day (and beyond), without committing a fashion faux pas. So leave your shamrock socks at home and add some green to your make up routine.
Green make up can be tricky, but it can also be a flattering color on everyone if applied correctly. For a more subtle effect, top artist Jay Jay Martin suggests incorporating green eyeliner into your routine. Metallic or shimmery pencils are the most versatile because you can either do a small and straight line, or go for a more dramatic look by smudging the color a bit. You can apply them the same way you would use a black or brown pencil.
If you're feeling especially brave, experiment with green eye shadows. Try sweeping a green color on the lower half of your eyelid, just below the crease. For a more accentuated look, line the outer corners of your eye with a darker shade of green and add a more neutral color to the inner corners. This will emphasize the shape of your eyes. While there are no "rules", lighter shades of green (aqua and sea foam) work best on fair complexions, while dark shades (hunter and forest) work best on darker complexions. Try to avoid wearing a strong green eye if you're wearing green clothing because it can be a bit of an overkill. However, green make up can really make a neutral outfit (like beige or black) come alive.
So dare to go green and your pretty eyes will be smiling, Irish or not. And if you'd rather express your green side by using natural, organic products, just click here!
